There are good engineers and there are ones who are delusional

Have met really good engineers in life. I have absolute respect for them. And then there the ones who are less aware and their TC gets to their heads. I find a breed of engineers who are delusional and speak visionary stuff but can't really go far in real life. They simply don't have the chops. Have you met such engineers? and what's your experience in dealing with such - is it mainly lack of right experience or something else.

Blame Leetcode. Memorized answers can help land high TC offers, but won't help become great Engineer

Yep, people are learning to beat the test not actually learning to be good software engineers.

Precise problem with delusional engineers - they are closed minded. This is general topic, no need to take offense.

I’ve worked with a lot of engineers and have found that generally most of them are nice, hardworking people and tend to do the same quality work in the same period of time. A few have jumped out as exceptional - either in quality, strategy participation, or sheer historic knowledge of the UX and stack. Never worked with a really awful engineer before, but I’ve never worked FAANG so maybe that’s why 😂 seems like everyone who *thinks* they are the best aren’t
