Thinking of leaving for a contract job

I am pretty financially secure and only need 1/10th of my current salary to maintain my lifestyle. I was thinking that contracting for a few months a year like maybe 6 months during the winter and then taking 6 months of the summer off would be ideal. Is this something that can be made to work or will it be difficult to get a contract job if there is 6 month gap every year in my resume.

Gap matters some times. But things are changing.

Should be fine. You can sign and join pretty quick. Hard part is what’s your target rate. If you are flexible with your rate you can be find a lot. Other hard part is 6 months is a short period places will try to get you in for a year. But you can maybe swing 6 months. Other hard part is any vacation in that 6 month is unpaid. So if something comes up. Family emergency or anything else. Don’t expect to get paid on your days off. I’ve seen more contracts now also require on-site. But still remote jobs are there.
