Odd choice for a picture
Further indication they're most likely not an actual expert in the field. I mean can you imagine a leading professor etc. sending this pic for a press release?
This is the stupidest form of ‘halo effect’ I have read. The more nerdy you look = the more successful of scientist you must be 😂
what makes him an AI expert? layoffs had a performance element, and any high performer would have been retained tbh plus he’s kept on the payroll for months after the layoff, so it’s more than 90 days tbh if he’s a great researcher, even companies with hiring freezes still have HC for exceptional candidates
If someone has something bad happen in the news, they're an expert. Same thing with hiking accidents etc. It is calming to the readers because it makes the victim entirely blameless, thus it increases reader engagement. It means literally nothing unless their credentials are presented.
What a dumb comment. “any high performer would have been retained tbh” 😂😂🙄
Title should be updated to “person with 8 months working experience…” which is probably part of why he’s struggling to find work. Sucky situation regardless
With work from home they can work any any part of the world
NPR's politically correct writing style at its finest. I couldn't finish the article.
They, them, their , my a$$
NTT: The pronoun "they" is used here, likely because the person prefers that way.
If he is really an “expert”, 90 days should be plenty of time to find another job.
Not when everyone is laying off! Or he could start his own business if he didn’t not have immigration hurdles!
Even in this market, with how hot AI is, if they were an honest "Expert" they would not have trouble finding a job. They probably aren't a legitimate "Expert" but just a mid developer. Nothing wrong with that by the way, but those people will have problems finding jobs right now in 90 days.
USA doesn’t deserve highly educated people. We should cut down immigration to such an extent that companies are forced to setup bases else where. MAGA!
If companies wanted to, they would have already done so. And they have outsourced labor - why would they pay for top dollar American labor, if they didn’t have to? The truth is, they have to
American labor is peanuts compared to immigrants studying and earning those skills here. Companies can never survive on just “American” labor!
He was a new hire, only 8 months with the company. Sucks but with PHD he can always try and go back for post doc and wait till the economy picks up again to apply. Sure with insta on his resume he will have better chance in future.
You obviously have no idea how academia works.
Why do you feel the need to do that
Do what? My commentary on HIS predicament?
Guy has a PhD. He can just get a post doc and wait it out. Or join academia. Not a big deal.
Read the article correctly. The pronoun is not “he”
Ah HE can go back or find a job for HIMSELF. HE would find it difficult to find a job
