I'm about to join Deloitte and will be attending Deloitte University for training. For those who have spent time there, do you think it was worth your time? If so, can you share what you found most valuable or how to make the most of it?
Best part about Deloitte is DU. Unlimited food and snacks, networking, drinks at the Barn. Oh and of course some learning as well.
DU is great... use that to network as it really drives how life at Deloitte goes for you.... Food and Drinks at the Barn is endless... you need to pay for alcohol, but DU is going to be mre than great
It’s a cruise ship on land
I never understood this thing about networking as a heavy requirement at Deloitte. From what I see Deloitte hires a ton of people who are competitive but don’t have any actual skills. If you have in demand skills at D the requirement for heavy networking becomes a lot less. From there all you need is the ear of a select few PPMDs in your offering portfolio and you can own your career from there. Obviously if you have a great relationship with a client and keep winning work with them, well that’s how you get promoted as long as you have a coach. Realistically I believe that a network of 20 is the max it takes to become a respectable SM. From there it takes a strong principal to go higher.
Does anyone know if Deloitte U is returning to an in person model this summer?
Enjoy! You are about to go to heaven. Must do: 1. Update your LinkedIn so when you get there and you network, you can “collect” your contacts using LinkedIn. 2. Network network network. Network up, down, and laterally. Your Deloitte career is heavily influenced by who you know.
