Thoughts on GS Marcus culture

People that have worked with Marcus, particularly the ClarityMoney folks (now Digital Storefront), wonder what’s your opinion of them? Good team to join? Heard both ends of the spectrum, some say they bring much needed change, innovation, and culture to GS, other people think they are very junior (non-technical peope throwing tech jargon to impress non-tech higher-ups), and basically slackers.

Might be worth seeing what core banking infra they went with in the end. They looked into using the software my last place offered. Potentially you end up just doing shitty integration work.

Compared to a FAANG... Nah. Compared to other GS Teams. Yep. It’s pretty cool watching this thing grow. Lots of different personalities, definitely more junior (but that’s not always a bad thing)... you are really close when watching initiatives grow and fail.

Yep. It’s the big swinging dick of the firm now. Definitely a grower, not a shower.

Adam Dell is very abrasive and he runs those teams. He supports and encourages very aggressive discourse in his group. He’s also a bit of a bigot and mentioned “all lives matter” this Monday in his all hands. Otherwise rest of Marcus isn’t as bad but very chaotic and limited management that is competent.

Solid PMs and Mobile SWEs, good people that do good work.
