Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Any mention of the breakdown of who are affected?
Mostly employees
1000 employees probably all across the board. They are not a huge company
Yelp makes most of their money on small business blackmail. I feel sorry for the employees, but I hope this company burns to the ground.
😮 googl ethical? I suppose making money on folks personal data without their permissions is just fine .. 😂
Something something people in glass houses. Funny all of us here pointing at other firms. I assume Intel is impeccable with its no antitrust, no 2B lawsuit settlement with amd and more
Most of the impact is in Sales
How many SDE's were laid off?
100ish
Stfu. This isn’t about whether you personally like the app. 16m+ lost their jobs recently
16m in the US, 2k laid off or furloughed from Yelp. I'm not the biggest fan of yelp and their predatory business practices as well tbh but am still sympathetic to everyone's jobs who were affected
I dodged several trashy restaurants and businesses with the help of yelp. I really hope they stick around.
Did you tho?
Yes.
It's sad. I like them but maybe Google reviews will take over this space.
Absolutely hate Google reviews. It's useless
I was like that but starting to see the value even though their UX sucks at this point
He he ... I’m in danger
you are not alone mailirofriend
Actually LOLd at this
They will get purchased for $100M to harvest all the user data.
Looks like a bright future for google reviews
Lol yes google please buy us
I prefer businesses endorsed by neighbors on NextDoor. Yelp's reviews are not helpful at all for me. People that had a good or bad experience won't take the time to write a review. Reviews are skewed towards worst experiences. 4 or 5-star reviews are written by fake accounts or by employees or by someone affiliated with the business itself. Obviously, not everyone thinks Yelp is not trustworthy. It is valued at $1B+.
Were they profitable before this? I hope they don't die. ❤️ Yelp
Yeah we were profitable, but it matters no longer...
10M to 20M .. valuation 1.6B 😮
