Were the colonialist wrong for sinking the tea in protest of unrepresented taxation? If you think they were right and believed college protests are wrong what's the difference?
Win a revolution then you can be right. But cosplaying a victim and screaming about it will make you continually wrong.
Why don't you think people are sick of a war killing thousands of people and that they have empathy for those who are helpless
Great. Get sick of it. Suit up and go fight the war. Thereâs your difference. The Bostonians were ready to back it up. Not go back to their momâs basement.
I live in Boston I fuck with that shit, they my boys fr
What do you think of the student protests? (I wish Puerto Rico would revolt because they ironically are experiencing the same thing as the colonialists)
I plead the 5th
They were right because they won the war. They were terrorists if they lost.
Forget framing and story building, were the actions themselves justified?
Justice is a lie man, that's the point. It depends on who wins. If you kill an orphan to save 100 people, is that justified?
How does someone get laid off from alaksa fken airline đđ
I wasn't lmao
Ok ex-alaska
Youâre not really trying to equivocate the student protests and the Tea Party. Youâre trying to equivocate virtue signaling and the guts to back it up at the expense of your own life. Thereâs your difference. Donât like the war? Injustice? Go fight. But donât barricade yourself on campus and demand vegan food. You know what the Bostonians demanded? Freedom. And if Britain didnât like it, they could come take it from them.
Youâre an idiot. This US isnât Palestine and all those encampments should be raided and destroyed.
Would you have said the same thing in the 60âs about the Vietnam protests?
1. Yes, 2. Vietnam involved actual Americans at war in another country. These idiot loser protesters are just idiots protesting what another country is doing. Listen carefully. These protests havenât and will not result in anything. Not one.
The students *do* have representation though. Theyâre US citizens that are in college, meaning old enough to vote. If any are non-US citizens, they shouldnât have any say or care in how a foreign government works. I guess the boston tea party was justified in that they didnât have representatives in the government thatâd present an established, peaceful, legal route for influencing the government or having their voices heard.
I'm not making a one for one comparison. (But the students don't seem to have much of a voice on big issues. The students at Columbia voted overwhelmingly to have DISCUSSIONS about endowment divestment, and that was thwarted) I'm asking if damaging property for a cause is ever justified and why is it justified for one but not another
You literally made a one for one comparison.
What cookies did they have with the tea?
Colonists were wrong. Mother country(aka England) just fought a very expensive war (Seven Years War/French and Indian War) to protect colonies from French invasion. Treasury was deeply in debt. Colonies should pay their fair share. New stamp taxes on tea were actually very low and reasonable. British parliament also repealed existing outrageous taxes and replace with this simple taxes. But this taxes cut into profit of tea smugglers. Tea smugglers staged little âtea partyâ to protect their smuggling income. Centuries of American indoctrination have made most people believe theyâre fighting for freedom. Yeah, freedom to run illegal import business.
I wonder how they teach this in England. Or maybe they just skip it?
