Ya, all 500 of them are going to totally outbid the other 7 million people in the Bay Area. I mean, at least until the first one sells some stock and the price tanks.
NYTimes overrates the industry. Thousands of new millionaires? That’s gotta be off by a factor of 10. I would really be surprised if there is one thousand people who go from not millionaire to millionaire. I’d believe thousands will get six digits. And maybe a few hundred will be “minted millionaires”. Most receiving a million or more will have already been millionaires before this.
Why do you say so? Say an employee joined Uber 4 years ago as a software engineer 2 and they got promoted to a senior, wouldn’t the stock make them 1m$?
