Search didn't show any parts about this, so posting. It's a good thing that they fired the people, but it kind of confirms the apprehensions a lot of people were expressing about TikTok/ByteDance. Before we blame it on China though, we should remember that Uber was caught doing pretty much the same thing under TK. One concern people have is, how hard are the restrictions in place, what level of privileges would it take to override them and whether they can actually withstand Chinese government pressure. We have seen how early fortunes of tech moguls were flipped just because they upset the government. Given that level of influence Chinese government has on tech industry leaders' lives, how hard is it to enforce days access restrictions of Chinese government wanted something. ---- Earlier this year, TikTok denied that it had ever been used to target journalists. But now it has fired employees for tracking the whereabouts of US reporters covering the company. https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/22/23522808/tiktok-journalists-data-accessed-bytedance-internal-audit
At Snap now and this news helped our stock. Hope they ban TikTok, our TC can use a boost.

I suspect that this post will get reported too. I have had it happen earlier too, even just for pissing links to public, reputable news sites reporting facts.
