Tiktok vs FB job offer
I have offer from Tiktok and FB. Comp is same. However Tiktok equity is illiquid. Tiktok title and job scope is bigger. How is the talent and culture at Tiktok. Which one I should go for?

Comp: Tiktok: Total: $510k+bonus, Base $240k, RSU $1.08m ($270/yr), Sign on: $100k, 25% annual bonus FB: Total: $500+bonus, Base: $210k RSU $1.16m ($290/yr), sign on $100k

TikTok is a teenager in tech years. Unpredictable, but slightly proven. It’s risky. It’s still private company. The average time to IPO is 10 years. TikTok is 3. Can you wait another 7 years before seeing a single dime in RSUs? Will you be around the company that long? Will IT be around that long? The obvious choice to me is FB, even with reduced TC, reduced scope, etc. Technically it will have higher TC for ~ 7 years.
Bytedance is 8 years old and highly profitable. OP would be getting bytedance RSUs.
But the point remains that the RSUs are not worth face value until an IPO happens. ByteDance has not IPO’d. So your TC is everything minus the RSUs. A lot can happen between now and when (if) a company IPOs
Obviously FB in this case. If you’re getting a significant jump in scope and comp at tiktok that’s a different comparison.
