Hi folks. I got 2 offers from TikTok and Meta. My h1b is half way through so I’m prioritizing PERM application at my next job. Any insiders could share a bit about which companies have better GC policies? I did some research and saw rumors that Meta had resumed PERM application but has a higher chance of getting audited; while TikTok might intentionally slow your process by failing pwd. Can someone confirm if it’s accurate or not? Thanks!! #perm #tech #meta #bytedance
Has a Day 1 GC policy, BUT about 50% of our immigration applications for 2022 have failed the recruitment step.
TikTok is great if you want a h1b for China
Tiktok may be get a ban in US. Keep this in mind too.
Our immigration support is absolute shit. They are intentionally slow because they know that PERM is fucked at other big tech, so they hold it over you as a carrot. Our whole June batch failed their LMTs this December. They made us go through the LMT for 6 months. During those 6 months, the law firm ByteDance employs was lying to us, saying that the LMT was going smoothly. Yet it failed at the end. Tons of people caused a huge uproar, and only then BD’s immigration team decided to take their heads out of the butts and do something. However, based on what I have seen, it’s all the same bullshit. The rumor I have heard is that our lords in Beijing are wary of BD being banned in the US, so they told our immigration team to effectively stop the process, to avoid paying immigration fees while being banned in the US. Absolutely dogshit unethical company that looks for every way to screw you over.
Keep in mind the TT ban, also it’s current brand sentiment. From USCIS’s perspective, meta is definitely a safer bet!
There are Perm issues at Meta. Do not join if Perm is your priority. Don’t know about TikTok
There are perm issues pretty much everywhere. It's hard for any company to argue there is no American available for the job, given 400k high tech workers got a pink slip in last 12 months.
Meta issues have been since 2021. It’s not due to the layoffs but the process they follow. I had received an offer but did not join. I heard there has hardly been any progress since then.
This. Same.
Does Meta support any contingency plan when H1 expires like transfer to Canada?
The immigration process in the US is a scam . Companies can hold you hostage for years
You can always Free yourself and book a one way ticket home. Rip those shackles off
Who cares they come here and take American jobs
