I have a Naturalization Interview scheduled in a few weeks, but had plans to travel internationally in 3 months. I know I *can* travel after the interview, but once I’ve taken the Oath, I *cannot* travel until I get my passport. Hence I wonder, what is a typical time between the two procedures? SF South Bay (if that matters) E5 / 230k
My oath was a week after the interview.
You can look up the upcoming naturalization ceremonies online. Mostly they will schedule you for the one that’s happening soon after the interview.
Do you get it scheduled during the interview?
You can’t know before the interview because getting invited to the ceremony is conditional on getting approved at the interview
You can take a copy of your travel arrangements to the interview and ask. They might able to do same day oath. My oath ceremony was scheduled 4 weeks after interview. Getting an appointment for passport takes time and also if you have to renunciate your passport from birth country (2-4 weeks).
Good advice, thank you.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
It’s a few hours in the same building in SF. My wife had her interview at 11am, then the oath ceremony was at 3pm. At the Oath ceremony, they take your green card.
That’s nice. Was that mentioned in her Form I-797C (invitation to the interview)? Mine doesn’t mention the Oath ceremony at all..
