How do dating app algos work? Which strategy would give you more quality matches: Swipe right on every profile or selectively swipe? Do dating apps penalize people for blindly swiping? How do profiles get queued up? #tinder #bumble #misc #algorithmrx #dating
Horny but defeated. Sucks.
If you are ugly you get less matches. If you want more matches try being more attractive.
this worked for me
Just install an update for your face. Easy.
The more people that left swipe you the lesser your profile will be shown to other people. Right swipe selectively on people that are in your league.
Bumble: ✓ 50/50 swipes probably best ✓ Algo: don't show you to anyone 95% of time unless you pay, not paying users are spammed with offers ✓ once in month promote profile, to give sucker a carrot to keep engaged ✓ paying has no impact on dating success on bumble either btw, all offers are a scam
What ever happened to Facebook dating? Seems like a good opportunity to develop a better matching algo.
could match based on propensity to share overly personal life updates and fake news
Tinder: Too many scammers, they waste your time than ask to help them pay for something or try to make you sign up for some ugly cam girl trash.
There is a research paper on this topic, they will gave you an "attractiveness" score based on who you swipe and who swiped you. Then they will only show you people with similar scores
Nope they retired the ELO score in 2019
I bet they're still using something similar and just don't call it elo anymore. I can't imagine anything different

Read this, it talks about penalties too :)
Best article I've read on matchmaking. Now time to build a better dating app and go IPO like Bumble 🤑 Infra is impressive Kafka messaging and cell zoning. Still feel UI is clunky and could be improved.
Don't use these apps
How do you meet (not in person exactly but in general where to find people) esp during pandemic?
If I didn’t use apps, I wouldn’t get any dates!
