Tinder/dating app algorithms

Can someone explain what goes on here? I’ve noticed these apps tend to have a pattern of giving a lot of matches, 100% going cold turkey on you for awhile, giving matches again, and going cold turkey again. Are there factors that contribute to this kind of behavior in the algorithm? Does everyone experience this? Are there significant factors that could be used to boost your score on the algorithm to get more consistent behavior? Are there any signs that indicate you’re the problem vs the app is just trolling you at the moment?

These apps don't know how attractive you are to other people, so it tries to guess your attractiveness rank based on your behavior and behavior of other people to your profile. If you're swiping right too much, you're probably less attractive than the current "rank" you're in and it will lower your rank. And if others swipe right on you too much, and you don't swipe back then your "rank" is probably too low and you rank increases. That's kind of how the Elo algorithm worked, that tinder used in the past. It's different now, and the exact details aren't known. But, it tries to figure out your rank, and if your rank is accidentally bumped too high then you won't get any matches. If it's lower, then you get lower rank matches but more frequently. It always fluctuates and tries to get your exact rank.

How else will we get you to come back and swipe everyday? Clearly knowing there is a high likelihood that you are not getting laid anytime soon
