I was laughed off blind for sharing that I always tip my drivers. Turns out one or two others agree with me. So asking again. Do you tip your ride share driver? http://techcrunch.com/2016/04/22/tip-your-uber-driver/?ncid=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29&utm_content=FaceBook&sr_share=facebook
Taking your drunk ass home isn't good enough for a tip unless you liked what they had to say?
Are you a recent college grad? Not everyone spends their nights at bars, some of us have family and use ride shares for commuting to work.
Tipping is socially awkward in any situation and biased towards expectation rather than what is deserved.
Tipping is the dumbest thing in the world. That being said, that's the system that's in place so I do tip whenever appropriate. I'm not going to notice a few $$$'s difference, and if it's going towards someone that just did something for me (and isn't getting paid unless I do) then I'm not going to be the one that stiffs them.
Tips are auto included in uber. I think the default percentage is 15%? So unless you have specifically go to the website to change that setting, you are already tipping
Bullshit. From a Fortune article: "For years, the common misconception that “tips are included” in the Uber fare led many riders to skip on giving their drivers a tip. But looking at a receipt, revealed the price only includes the fare and a “booking fee,” formerly known as the “safe ride fee.” There were no tips.". BTW, I personally hate the practice of tippy and should it become compulsory, I'd simply stop using the service.
moot point. they get paid what they get paid. how it's segmented into pay vs tip is irrelevant
If you tip an Uber driver you are ruining it for the rest of us. Tipping should be abolished. Charge what your product costs.
Agree. I never tip.
This. When drivers get a taste, they awkwardly kiss everybody else's ass, remind riders that tips "aren't included", and try to act like a service industry professional when really you just want silence.
I use Lyft primarily, just so I can adjust how much I pay based on how good the service was. A friendly driver who is on time, takes a good router, and possibly makes good conversation (not necessary) earns more.
I prefer Ubiquiti or Cradle Networks even ;)
I would tip if all drivers would STFU. Not so bad in Seattle but in Chicago you'd think they get paid by the word. I abhor chit chat.
Sit in the back and they should be quiet Lyft drivers understand this more than uber.
Tipping is stupid and arbitrary
Tipping is a great way to screw the tax man. Keeps costs low for all of us, I like it
Neither micro- nor macro-economically accurate
I tip Lyft drivers since the app asks for a tip. I don't tip Uber drivers since the app doesn't ask. Tipping is a stupid practice that we should do away with, though. Pay your employees a liveable wage.
Drivers arent employees, thats why I tip. Agree for waiters I hope we can end tipping like the rest of the world.
They still get paid by the company. The company should be charging me enough to pay the employees a decent wage, not asking for tips.
