TC: 130K YOE: 6 No degree Looking to move into SWE role at FAANG sometime from now. (Maybe a year or two). I'm currently at a unicorn (not Rackspace) as a SE (solutions engineer) and I work mostly with infra/security and some VERY light JS problem solving. I'm bouncing between getting a bachelors and/or Fullstack bootcamp to get the skills/credentials to move into a FAANG. I know nearly no one at any FAANG's currently, so referrals will be difficult. Question: Should I get a cyber sec degree within a year (WGU) and then go through the bootcamp or should I just stick to projects and bootcamp before applying at FAANG's? Light me up fam.
Just stick to bootcamp. Leercode. Get some interesting projects on resume.
Why bootcamp? Boot camps are played out rn. Just learn on ur own, interesting projects, leetcode
