Hi everyone, I am a developer currently working from the EMEA zone and a pretty low-income area. I was interviewed at deel.com and got an offer for a 55k USD base. They told me it's based on metrics they gathered from the salary for my area with my level of experience. For context, I am working on a contract full-time remote job in the US while completing my education in a South Asian country. I survived the great 2022 layoff and managed to get a promotion to a senior role. The company had a change in management last year and they are showing signs of letting me go. I accidentally saw the "terminate him" text conversation in a screen share with upper management. I was very hurt, a lot didn't make sense and I immediately started applying for a new job. Now, about Deel, as soon as I got the offer, I researched Glassdoor and Blind for reviews. Everyone mentions "deelspeed", "toxic culture", "nepotism", and a lot of negative sentiment. I also felt something was off, i.e. recruiter asked am I okay to do "off hours" or "extra" work, lowballed my salary based on my location, etc. I don't have any other offers but seems like I would be forced to embrace this toxicity until the market jumps back. Please let me know your opinion (to deel, or not to deel) and advice on how I can negotiate a better "deel". ** Also, it would be a huge help if anyone could provide me with a referral to a good company that values employees WLB.** Appreciate it! The company is definitely growing at a really fast pace and that kind of work may be expected from time to time due to deadlines but in my experience (I can only speak for my team + eng dept) there isn't any more nepotism than other companies. Usually those negative reviews come from Sales, they're under a lot of pressure to meet their targets. If they offered you 55K then that's what's fair in your area (trust me they have all the salary data), but you can always try negotiating. Good luck!
