Too many job change in 8 years

I joined my 6th company in 8 years, I know I had too many switches but that was because of failed startups and layoffs due project closure. I was always unlucky in making a right job choice. My resume looks like that of a hopper but in reality I want to station at one company and contribute to my fullest. How can I hide this job changes from my Resume? Looking for suggestions #interview #softwareengineer #faang #microsoft

stay at your current company for 5+ years... pretty easy to say you found your fit and dont come across as a job hopper now (you were in the past) also dont need to list every single job on resume

You may remove the jobs with the shortest tenures from your resume if they were for a few months each.

How to fill the gap in CV. Or to stretch the duration from neighbouring org?

Uber IQuitUber Nov 3, 2020

Let the gap remain, a gap is better than multiple short tenures

If any of your previous company is shut down....Mention that in resume in bracket...... nobody will ask you... reduce switch count that way if possible

Agree with this one. If you do a couple sentences on your resume you can frame that “hopping” prior to the reader getting to it. Then it could possibly be turned into a positive that hardship doesn’t get you down and you persevere which is a very valuable skill for an employee to have.

BTW, is a full career of 2 year stints (changing jobs every 2 years) too hoppy?

Uber daft-punk Nov 3, 2020

No, it's hoppy but not too hoppy.

I have similar but more on a side of 3 years. No issues most of the time. Hedge funds are more picky and sometimes you’ll have to explain your choices in pretty much every interview. Out of popular ones i think only TGS rejected interviews at very early stage.

lol I did this and I have no problems finding new jobs. I'm honest about why I hopped jobs; they oversold the job, really poor compensation (almost slave labor), career not going in the right direction, etc. I tell them honestly that I don't stay to be miserable just so my resume looks good. Some companies like the candor but others don't. Also, as others mentioned, if you were in a role less than six months, remove that from your resume. Don't worry about the gaps. As long as you have the right experience, most companies will ignore it imo.
