Hey guys! How do you all finish your sprint tasks while attending meetings throughout the sprint ? In a sprint, I have a lot of meetings scheduled as I’m involved in different projects. I am not able to handle both project work and meetings. I get very mentally drained with all the meetings that I’m not able to focus on my sprint tasks. My sprint tasks are suffering but I’m not able to spend time on them. How do you guys deal with it? How to handle both sprint tasks and meetings? Please help! 😭😭😭😭😭
Mute if you are not talking in a meeting and keep working. If someone calls your name, unmute and ask them to repeat as that person’s voice was breaking, so you couldn’t hear properly.
That’s terrible advice, even though everyone (including me) does it. If the meeting doesn’t provide any value, skip it. If you’re working, focus on your work and tune out distractions.
Shame that some people can’t understand humor.
Sounds like one of two problems: 1) You are being assigned too many sprint tasks 2) Your team has too many meetings Either way, this is a management problem. You should talk to your manager.
Bring it up in your 1:1, but don't do as a complaint. Talk about which specific meetings you want to ditch so that you can do sprint work. Talk about it as maximizing your time to bring more productivity / value.
Unpopular opinion: If you are working with a PM, they are either incompetent or unneeded. This might sound counter intuitive, but perhaps getting rid of your PM is the way to go. With a few rare exceptions, I find most Project Managers to be a net negative on my productivity as someone who actually builds stuff *and* has deep domain knowledge. I find that if I do my own project management, and build things, and create a framework for my team to follow, we are much more empowered to "manage up" and properly self drive our projects while avoiding useless meetings. The moment a PM gets involved the number of pointless meetings increases by 2x with a few rare exceptions - only PMs I have worked with that added any real value were ones who came from a technical role. Be your own PM and empower yourself to manage your time, stakeholders without wasting time trying to spoon feed technical concepts to a meeting jockey talking head PMI type.
Skip unnecessary meetings or tune it out and multitask. Bring it up in ur 1-1 that it's hard to manage time with meetings and engineering work.
Working on too many different things. Ask to get focused on one track.
Plan your sprint tasks with meetings you need to mandatorily attend in mind.
Mark meetings as tentative. If you have work to complete during that time, decline the meeting. Talk to your manager about managing your tasks and schedule. If you are being asked to spend over 10 hours in the day by your *manager, then somethings not right. Change your team or job.
Damager 😂😂
Lol…corrected it! Iphone autocorrect 🤣
Attending meetings is part of your 8 hrs on a single day. If you cant accompolish your tasks, then bring it up to the manager. You can decline meetings.
