I'm thinking about moving to Toronto, Canada. I have about 12 yoe total and 2 1/2 yoe as a first line manager. Currently a principal engineer in distributed systems and data streaming platforms. What companies in Toronto (or remote opportunities) have the best total comp packages available with a good RSU allocation. Ideally with base greater than 200K CAD.
Probably Google Kitchener
Kitchener is a while away from Toronto
No it is not
Very few companies in Canada pay 200k even though 12 yoe. Pay and life here is not like US for sure. You have to compromise on lot of things ofcourse. If your tech stack is in demand here you can find some long term contract jobs which might pay 100-120$/hour, which will equate your pay to 200K CAD. Good luck👍
Indeed there are few companies outside of Google, Facebook, Amazon that would pay that much total comp. but I can think of two from top of my head: TradeRev and PayTM.
I don't think Facebook has any engineering roles in Toronto.
For engineering manager ,you should get 160-180k....my previous company manager in Canada used to be in range of 160-170k.
Is this total compensation or just the base salary?

BREAKING: Internal sources confirm another round of layoffs just hit emails at Tesla. For real.
Probably won’t get that in Canada tbh. It sucks, but it’s the truth :/
