Larger US based tech companies that also have offices in Canada ,(ie. in Toronto), when offering RSU to new Canadian employees to work in their canadian office do they offer the same amount of RSU but in Canadian dollar? Ie. Let's say they would normally offer 60k RSU in USD per year for 4 years to their US based employees. Now if they are to extend an offer to a new Canadian employee who is going to be working in their Canadian office, which one of the following would they offer? 1) 60k RSU in CAD 2) 60k RSU in USD
1) since your salary is based on CAD
I’ve seen 1) to be widely true, even worse at higher/senior levels where if in the US you would receive 200k RSU/yr in USD, equivalent offer in Canada is <120k CAD/yr RSUs
