Travel out of US on previous employer visa?

I will have to visit India urgent for a family health problem. I recently changed a company. I am on h1b. I have a H1B visa (expiring Oct 2024) stamped on my passport. This was from my previous employer. Now to travel and come back to US, do I need to get visa date, get the new visa stamped (sponsored by my new employer). Let me know if anybody face this situation and how they handle it.#workvisa #h1b

Carry latest i797 I believe Stamping not needed if you travel back before October

You don’t need to get a new visa stamped. You can come back on your old visa. You would need the new i797 of the new employer.

You can go and come back as long your current stamp is valid on your day of return regardless of employer. Carry your latest i797 upon arrival.

As long as the visa stamp is valid, you can travel... make sure when you are coming back, show the new I-797 to the officer at POE, and you will get the expiry date of your new I-797 on your I-94

You should be good if you enter US before expiry of existing visa stamp (old employer) and carry original I-797 approval notice of new employer. Make sure you have BOTH pages of I-797. Wait for couple of more people to confirm on Blind. And ask your company attorneys to be double sure. Hope things get better with your family. Sending good vibes.
