Traveling to India for a couple of months, what do folks do with their US mobile lines to continue service (atleast important text messages). Does AT&T give coverage in India, is there a roaming plan folks prefer? Before you jump on me to call AT&T and ask, let me just say - I will do so. I am just picking Blind fam's brain on what others do.
Get a jio sim when you land Data plans are cheap af
But we need aadhar card right? Last time they didn’t give me one without it
I'll get that, couple of questions though - 1. Do they activate the sim asap or is there like a day long activation delay? 2. I am interested in how to keep getting important text messages (for 2FA reasons when I login to several websites)
Activate international plan on your AT&T account. I think it’s $10 per day and $100 per month.
got it
damn thats a ripoff. Just get month prepaid ($35/month) T-Mobile card with unlimited worldwide roaming addon ($15/month). And if you are already a T-Mobile customer its free! If you are not, why wait?
Save yourself money and just enable WiFi calling on your phone. It works whenever you are connected to WiFi and you don't have to pay any roaming or international plan fee.
T-Mobile 🙌 Data is free in over 100 countries
This!
T-Mobile is good.
Google Fi is the answer.

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
Worked for me. They have coverage via JIO
So you didn't have to get any additional plan, roaming worked out of the box? Did both calls and text work for free or was there an extra roaming charge?
Yes, worked out of the box for me
