Likely more to happen "over the coming months", according to the CEO. I don't understand why they would spread it out for months if they're going to lay off people anyways. We are all wondering who's going to be on the chopping board next.
I thought travel was bouncing back, which would benefit travel companies. Damn these silent layoffs are increasing
And going down soon
it is but people aren't using Trip Advisor
To avoid WARN.
I think WARN goes up to 90 days
Wow, that really sucks. We went through something recently but this seems much larger. Best of luck and feel free to DM for Expedia referrals
Thank you! I wasn't impacted but seeing where things are I might in the future. You are a great human being 👊
Things are not looking safe here either. DP&I just had several rounds of layoffs already although not announced publicly
Yeah, Expedia has been consistently trimming rather then calling it mass layoffs
Mass trimming ?
Sorry to hear - similar to the one above, feel free to reach out for Expedia's referrals
Thanks so much! ❤️
from the pan into the fire though no?
Does anyone actually use TripAdvisor anymore? All I’ve seen it is as something ruining my search results in the past few years.
I do. There are some good reviews in there for hotels. I trust TA more than yelp.
Yea I still use it
I thought travel was cooking post Covid? Is the travel industry in trouble?
Post COVID travel bump will fade
This. This too shall pass
But right now, there is a big travel surge. While their core business is slowing, their revenue still increased and they are still profitable. Plus they're still down in terms of headcount relative to prepandemic levels (they dumped 25% of their staff in 2020). Yet they still want to do layoffs. These layoffs are not due to duress. They're just joining the layoff bandwagon.
How big was it?
To avoid it being a mass layoff maybe?
Can they avoid WARN this way ?
Yes they can.
