Trump to pause visas for foreign workers until 31st December
Senior Administration Official says President Trump will sign an executive order “pausing” visas for foreign workers in a wide range of occupations, will impact more than 500,000 people between now and Dec. 31. This is designed to create “an America first recovery starting with Americans,” and will affect categories of foreign workers ranging from software engineers to au pairs, the SAO says. Impacted categories include H1B, H4, H2B visas as well as J and L visas, the official says. "pausing visas" only refers to new visas and perhaps renewals I hope
Only new visa issuing. Not affecting transfers for people already in the US.
“Transfers” are technically new work permit petitions, only cap exempt.
transfer is fine because it has nothing to do with visa. As long as you are still in US you are fine
In the US on my OPT, H1b petition is currently awaiting decision from USCIS for COS (Change of Status). Still unsure whether the EO would affect me?

Does this mean immigration stops? I have a L1 visa and currently in India. Won’t I be able to travel back to usa?
