I asked for a google referral and repher.me told me somebody wanted to refer me but his email is in the form firstname_lastname@outlook.com. I searched the name up on linkedin and it is a google employee, but anyone could have made that email account. Is there any risk with this stuff? It feels sort of sketchy for some reason. How can repher.me even check that whoever owns that email is a google employee?

We verify the email in the same way blind does to make sure that person works at Google. They can choose to use their personal email for contacting purposes.
so when I was looking at repher, and found someone I wanted to refer it asked me for my personal non company email to use for contacting. Your work email is tied to the account and personal email is used for contact

I think it's optional to use your personal if you're not comfortable revealing your personal
