Try to make the transition inside IBM. Changing jobs and companies in a single step in this environment is hard
I was considering that, but IBMs environment is too toxic. Need to leave this company and finally enjoy doing my work.
It may be so but I don't know a hiring manager who will look at your resume and consider you for a SW role. Even SW majors coming fresh out of school will have it better than you. They may have done internships in SW, or participated in school hiring events. You are already labeled as HW and not a fresh graduate. The only person who will hire you will be completely desperate and you don't want to go there. IBM is still a household name. Find a way to transition slowly then make the jump.
