Recently failed two interviews Goldman Sachs( Application Infra Team) & Rakuten Viki(Platform Eng). Sucked at OS and n/w questions. Don't come from CS background and have interviews coming up. Can someone share some resources which can help me ramp up? #career #goldman
Why look at platform and infrastructure teams if you don't know anything about OS/NW?
Not that I know nothing, also those were the only teams hiring at the moment.
Network client server stuff or network protocols and concepts? These are totally different domains.
Modern OS - Andrew Tanenbaum Networking knowledge for interviews just need you to go through some YouTube videos. For actual application or understanding in-detail, troubleshooting or setting up live networks is the only way to learn.
What kind of nw and os questions were you asked?
OS and Networking are like pacific and Atlantic Ocean... you will probably get overwhelmed going through the responses you get here. Also don't get me wrong but nobody would be willing to hire you unless you have real time experience in these fields even though you Crack the interview. What is your motivation to get a job in these domain(s)?
These should get you started: For OS - Linux Programming Interface For Networking - Illustrated Network
Thank you, would get to it. But not sure, if I can pick it up right now for the interviews (have 2 weeks). Anything else you can recommend?
Not really. For OS you can also look at Linux kernel development. Otherwise just start looking stuff online.
