I have an offer for SDE1, down leveled from SDE2 Current TC is 174k, with mid year promo it’s 180k, and next year would be ~190k 5 yoe Verbal offer was top of band 180k for the DC area at the AWS org for SDE1. I’m still interviewing, so I’m not accepting this offer but I’m thinking about it. If I don’t get any other offers I think I’ll take it. I think I’ll learn what I need to succeed as an engineer that I’m not getting in my current role. I’ve pretty much maxed out the levels at C1 for a true IC, next levels they force you to be more of a manager Couple questions: I’m currently talking to hiring managers, I’m trying to find the right team. I’m open for roles in Seattle and DC. Is there any specific teams that I should avoid? Are there teams that I should look to join? I figure that I’d be a quick promote, given my experience. I read somewhere on here that L4 -> L5 could get me to 205k TC in a year. What kind of expectations should I set for this? How should I ask to structure my offer? What are the advantages and disadvantages to more base vs more stock? I think I’d prefer more base but would that kill my promotion increase potential? Obviously stock increases but idk if I’m going to see a doubling of Amazon stock in the next two years... Anything else I should look out for?
Once you get L4 to L5 promo your TC moves to low end of L5 band, that is 186k TC
Ah... that’s disappointing, thanks
Can you please share your interview experience?
If you are okay with that comp, just roll with it. If you were truly down-leved incorrectly, it'll be a quick promo
