I was laid off back in July. 2 months later I ended up with 2 offers, the first was starting at 105k but it was working with Salesforce Lightning Web Components, I worked with it in my previous job but I want to avoid Salesforce Lightning Web Components like the plague. The offer I accepted was a mid level role for 80k working with React/TypeScript/Tailwind I’m happy with my choice as I prefer that tech stack heavily over Salesforce Lightning Components and the company is really great, but man, I have over 4 yoe as a FE and I’ve seen people with the same experience working with the same tech stacking making triple. Im trying to look at this experience as an investment but TBH , I’m trying to get to the money, hopefully a decent raise comes soon.
Lmao you switched jobsbecause of the tech stack?
I mean imagine working on salesforce lightning whatever that is
No I was laid off. I had the choice between the 2 job offers mentioned in my post.
I don't think working for Salesforce is the same as working with salesforce...
Yes both are completely different. Working in Salesforce is cheery on the cake and working with Salesforce is frustrating.
It’s more the latter, in or with.
No your not, I would’ve done the same
Working with sales force is basically low level admin job. Don’t expect high pay. You did the right thing. You’ll be in a better place in 2 years.
Well, better switch as soon as the market picks up. Taking a 20% pay cut is rough, especially when base is already that low
You factored in your career growth and made a smart choice. Don’t sweat it. I would have made that choice myself.
Career growth is more important especially if your TC is on the low end for tech either way. If you don't earn, you make sure you learn.
“If you don't earn, you make sure you learn.” going to pin this lol
It's a common phrase that I wholeheartedly agree with. I don't know who originated it, but don't quote me 😁
Think of the experience in tech stack as being worth more than $25k.
Your TC will catch up faster with this decision, longer term.
No the person who is going to marry you is an idiot
Haha that hurts
