I have cash and stocks in my retirement and investments of about 4.6M accounting for tax on gains. I have about 2.5 equity in primary and investment homes. I am going to do a slow grind in tech till I hit 50 and > 10m NW then move to LCOL and chill with family.
What if u die in early 50s? Was it worth it
Kids and family will have a good future. Fuck it. Can’t br greedy. I currently have a very luxurious life spending 25k a month. Private schools. Cleaners. Private chef. Home help. Luxury cars. Nice home. No regrets. Never penny pinched
Wow where do you live that you have a private chef? Sounds hella expensive
You’re solidly on track towards early retirement! Enjoy the “the youth of your senior years” with family and friends.
Thx
Do you find managing your investments will be better than working to help reach your NW target? If you can generate alpha of 10 percent then you get 460k
Yes. If I get to 8m invested at 50. I can be in a good place. Go teach somewhere
If everyone including you & me starts moving to LCOL in our retirement age with loads of money we make in Bay Area, I don’t know how LCOL will look like from sustainability & inflation perspectives.
I got 2 homes in 2 prospective cities with family close. I would go live there if I move and rent Bay Area home. I am not ready to buy homes there in 5 years. U are right. Those homes already up 25% in 3 years
I was similarly thinking about moving to my North Carolina investment property in Raleigh. But I see it is also getting expensive YoY. lol
What do you use to track NW?
Used mint now mostly manual
Budhe
Congrats that's awesome! Why would you move to a LCOL when you have ten millions? Don't you think that such a NW would make you in the top five percent in your location? I live in Germany and if i had ten millions i can afford a very luxurious life whenever i want in Europe.
Congratulations. Working till 50 is so long. Hope I retire by 40
Inflation will add about 25% every 5 years in your financial goal to retire
Won’t investment returns counteract inflation to some degree?
