I have heard few stories about SDEs joining Twilio pre-ipo, now their TC is worth 1M+ Not sure if this is just an exaggeration. Twilions any interesting stories you want to share? #twilio #tech #tc YOE 2 TC 170k

People who joined Amazon 10 years ago and didn't sell their stock are also millionaires.

Sam's Club ygritt OP Jun 24, 2020

Thatā€™s true. But Twillio is an underdog when it comes to work and TC.

Twilio ahoyahoy Jun 25, 2020

I donā€™t seem to understand why people think this. 4 years ago at IPO the stock was at $25 on the first day and itā€™s now at $215. Nothing underdog about that.

I have a guy in my team. Has been with Amazon since 2001. He once shared-after selling stock to fund his house and car over the years he still has 3800 vested shares unsold.

Damn son. Thatā€™s ill!!!

Yes, I know many of them

Twilio mzBX45 Jun 25, 2020

Thereā€™s plenty of twillionaires, not just in R&D. Have seen TC tank when we were in the 20s/share.

Twilio ahoyahoy Jun 25, 2020

The last option strike price before IPO was around $11 and now weā€™re at $215, so yes. Very likely unless people unloaded it all at $30

Twilio VlkS86 Jun 25, 2020

They are all earning for CA govt. Amazon is a better deal

Twilio ahoyahoy Jun 25, 2020

Ya, amazon with itā€™s weird shitty vesting schedule... That 10% is the real deal breaker šŸ˜›. (Also, the Bay Area is Amazonā€™s second largest ā€œofficeā€, but I assume you mean Seattle?)

Twilio šŸŒŠkanagawa Jun 25, 2020

Many Twillionaires indeed, and not only thanks to options. Some early post IPO RSU packages ended up being quite valuable. Great company in all respects.

I started 1 year post-IPO and knew someone who was around for almost 10 years. He left last year but heā€™s def a millionaire
