Anyone else here receive update from Twilio HR that their start date is being delayed? I was supposed to start in two weeks but Twilio now pushing my start date back a month. Supposedly to manage profitability (or lack thereof). I already gave my notice with my current company and now freaking out. #Twilio Current TC $450k
Never heard such a thing. Do they care about your bills
Get offers from other companies, in case they rescind
Always. Be. Interviewing.
Twilio is pushing all June starts until July. Still not totally sure why, but was announced on may 31. Some of the office spaces are being shut down as going remote first.
Are you going to have layoffs? I thought Twilio was doing well.
Everything is always susceptible to change, but at the moment no. Stock price isn’t doing great, but twilio did a nice job of stock piling cash during the good times. Still showing growth yoy and book of business is relatively diverse as well. Should be ok during a recession.
I would suggest that you keep interviewing as back upm
Freaking out when your TC is 450k? I hope you could take the next 5 years off and be fine earning that at your previous job
If OP lives in Swaziland and not Bay Area where it is 🥜
Would you be willing to refer me for a product role?
I'm also joining in July. I was told that onboarding dates between now and mid-July are just all full? Seemed odd at the time but the recruiter was super blunt and transparent throughout the process, hoping this wasn't an outright lie
I would say it was a lie based on what I was told. I’ve never seen any company have onboarding being “full”
Sounds like rescind or layoffs incoming
Sound about right. They are pushing expenses to the next quarter waiting to see the results of current quarter. If not up to par, they will rescind.
Expectation is things will get better by EOY if that doesn’t happen a lot of ppl will be laid off
Same here. Was supposed to start in june but now given july second week as start date.
Lesson learned - I’m going to give notice to my current employer two weeks after I join the new company.
Exactly
I am thinking of legal troubles that can come out of having two jobs at the same time (not just for people on a work visa).
Horrible. Yoe/level?
