I applied for L4 at Twilio, which requires 7 years of Frontend experience, but I only have 6 years. The recruiter told me, it's fine, they are still considering me. They asked me to go through their Hackerrank where they asked 1 medium LC, complete a React app, and 1 SQL question. That is fine, of course, it's a standard process even for Frontend L4 position. A couple of days ago, the recruiter notified me that I passed the Hackerrank, which I already knew. They requested my availability to schedule further interviews. Today, another recruiter reached out to me, telling me that L4 is "Up-Level" and they will not consider me for L4, instead they want me to take another Hackerrank for L3. (Can't they use the same Hackerrank that I did for L4?). The frustrating part is why waste people's time if you know that you won't consider them for a position. I will have to withdraw my application altogether, because I don't think I can work in a company like that. Does it happen often in other companies, so I should be mindful of it? Maybe I should not have applied for L4 when I only have 6 years of experience. Thoughts? P.S. I also met with the Hiring Manager of the team I applied for. He also gave his go a head. TC: 165k
This must be the fault from recruiter side only. Once you are in a company, there's nothing to do with recruiters. Please don't make a decision just out of frustration. Think about the work and money you are gonna get there. Make decision based on that.
I also met with the hiring manager of the team. He also gave his go a head. I don't think it's limited to the recruiters.
Yeah then show them your middle finger. I only meant that you should be making decision purely based on your future in that company/ team
Yeah I’ve interviewed there twice. First time got ghosted after a couple rounds then received rejection email. 2nd time got super good feedback after a couple rounds, the hiring manager even used enthusiastic language saying things like “We have to get you on this team.” Once again ghosted which was shocking after the positive (almost overly positive) feedback. During that round too the manager mentioned they’re really strict about levelling, which is also what you’re seeing. Sorry OP, but know you aren’t alone. I used to be really excited about working at Twilio but not so much anymore
Yeah thanks! I feel like something is really wrong in the organization. I don't regret withdrawing my application for L3.
yes they do, and I declined their offer to end their game
I also had a shitty experience with their recruiters, ghosted. Something isn't right over there
my experience with their recruiters was also really poor
Had a terrible experience.
Lol that's funny. Just tell them to fuck off.
flex ui?
Lol yup!!
@random69_ did you do the react HackerRank? Looking for some info for a buddy who is about to take it
Hard yoe requirements are always a red flag. If they already have all the data points from your interview and they still need to fall back to yoe, it means they have no idea how to evaluate talent.
Yoo could I get some more info on the react HackerRank? I have a buddy about to take it
it’s a shitty org, move on
Yeah, you are right!
