Twitch vs AWS

I'm considering an internal switch to either Twitch or AWS in Bay Area. I'm currently an L5 SDE with 2 YOE, so I want to optimize learning and growth. But I also want good WLB - I don't mind spending the occasional night working late to learn more about the work I'm genuinely interested in. But I don't want to work weekends and be super stressed about work all the time. I'm considering AWS since it will provide lots of learning scope in areas I'm completely new. At the same time, the horror stories on Blind are scary. Twitch, on the other hand, also provides learning scope in a new field while being more relaxed and offering slightly better benefits. Though it might not offer the same rate of growth. Which one should I pick? A couple other questions lingering in my mind: - In terms of future career prospects, is it true that AWS could add more weight to resume than Twitch? - Is it easy to switch from Twitch back to AWS in the future in case it doesn't work out at Twitch? Is an external loop required similar to the switch into Twitch? #software #engineering TC: 165K YOE: 2

I’ve heard great things from Twitch and did an interview loops with them prior to joining Amazon, the team and WLB seemed like a dream. That said, AWS will definitely be a better learning experience and should carry more weight. In reality, with that TC, you should consider looking for work externally then boomeranging. A majority of L4’s make more than 165k.

college hire L4 makes more than 165 depending on location and if they are an intern conversion

I'm not based in the US. That is my TC converted to USD

How do you go about internal switching at Amazon? I was told by a hiring manager at Twitch that it was not possible because Twitch has their own interview process completely different from Amazon. If it is possible, do let me know. I almost have an offer from Amazon and this would be a big pro, because all I've heard from my friends so far working at Amazon are cons.

Internally switching at Amazon is relatively easy. You can just DM the HM on Slack or Chime and at their discretion, they may set up an interview loop with you. It's usually a lot less rigorous than an external candidate loop. But for switching from Amazon to Twitch, usually you do have to go through a full loop like an external candidate

Which team would you be joining at Twitch? That would strongly impact my recommendation.
