Musk really thought in demand professionals would act like his unhinged twitter bootlickers 🤷‍♂️

Meta Kind of 🧂y Nov 17, 2022

Elon is what happens when you surround yourself with people that will only tell you what you want to hear.

He should have said the base salaries and unvested stock of everyone that leaves will be divided amongst the remaining.

The debt has bids around ¢60 which puts the company at a $8B liquidation value. So the equity is pretty much worthless at the moment.

Microsoft anon022 Nov 17, 2022

True. For some reason I completely forgot Twitter isn’t public anymore. Just base salary then.

Peloton goofyahh Nov 17, 2022

Yeah that's pretty hardcore lmao. I feel for the visa holders, it's gonna be rough

ServiceNow jwjhwwwwhh Nov 17, 2022

I wonder how many are on visa vs the ones that opted to stay.

Mailchimp jSyX65 Nov 17, 2022

Apparently the majority of those who remain are on visas…. so basically everyone not held hostage by other circumstances is gone.

Apple Mr_Miyagi Nov 17, 2022

Twitter will be a 100% H1B dependent company tomorrow

Accenture xgPk44 Nov 17, 2022

1000 people can probably run twitter. If he cuts 6,000 people he is saving about 2 billion per year…

You can’t make money if the site is unreliable. No large business will want to advertise on it.

Microsoft wlSV771 Nov 17, 2022

Imagine if twitter crashes for a day

I think Elon Musk past successes in engineering/manufacturing probably give him a false impression that he could enforce something similar to a Social media company which has a lot more liberal work environment. But he does not seem to fully understand these companies have a lot more employees with highly specific skills, who are difficult to replace. This gives these employees, not all of them obviously, a leverage to battle the big boss, and whoever has the guts to do so will be highly respected in IT community, or maybe we should call it Musk hater crowd. And they don’t need to fear the consequences that much, because their big assets are their brains :), which they will not lose and they can easily use the assets for, at least they believe, something else if they do lose the fight. Elon Musk probably enjoys the attention and the belief that he is a super tough and super smart savior. But this time he is in another not-so-carefully-chosen battlefield, facing opponents who may have similar mindset and who are more familiar with the battle ground. Let’s see who is going to win!!!

Even in this market, those people will find jobs elsewhere.
