What happens when most of your team is Indian?
the interview started with a hr ish call and then a take home test which was expecting a barebones ios app with basic unit tests. and got rejected instantly within a day to realize they were expecting a more solid implementation. why arent the hiring manager and the hr set clear expectations for the candidate. the reason why i am upset is not because i got rejected. because i gotta wait another year to reinterview which is ridiculous and also a lot of time to prep again for what might be another rejection. i am pretty upset. to be specific, how has the iOS engineers on blind overcome this step if you had this in any big / startup companies and have gone through ? what is the expectation? englighten me
I did it as well, in the email they mentioned you should not spend more than 3-5 hours, but realistically I spend more than 8. I think they underestimate the time to increase the take up percentage, but I honestly think they are miscommunicating the expectations.
Did you get through ?
Yea I did
did you get the final offer?
take home? twitter didnt give me that for my ios interview, just a typical phone screen with some leetcode easy-medium. i think depends on which company u come from
did u recently interview? did u make onsite?
What do you feel you did wrong? I’ve had a lot of success with take home assignments. I usually go a little beyond the UI expectations and add my own flare to it (could be design or animation). Ensure a few unit tests are there for your models/business logic. Make my code super clean and decoupled, like making different layers for networking, cacheing, and organize the codebase with extensions when confirming to different protocols.
Did everything. There’s always this random feedback which just can’t be satisfied with the two day limit. Unless I pull an all nighter
Bummer. Sorry to hear that. Maybe it was just bad luck. Or perhaps they compared your solution to other candidates and went with those instead? It’s hard to tell when there is no feedback but hope you strike better luck next time.
