I have another offer from Apple, so nothing for me to loose. But I really wanted to join Twitter. Now my ask from this community is 1) how many months can I ask Twitter to compensate? 2) Can you all provide referrals for companies with SDET / QA Automation role ? Tell them to compensate you for at least 6 months for the time wasted on the interview process. Then they will pay you 3-4 months pay..

It's a good deal. Most companies don't even offer this. But try to push to for at least 3 months

Unsure. If you push too much, they can just make you the offer. Now you know that they will eventually lay you off with no severance (youโll always be fearful!) So in that case your 2 month extra bonus is also gone kaput ๐ตโ๐ซ Iโhd say, just take the 2 month bonus and try in 6 months if you really like Twitter!

God knows which market standard u r talking about as both Twitter and Apple offered me base of 40+ ( without negotiations) . So judging QA/ SDET role shows lack of information ๐ BDW u may consider looking things from opposite perspective as well , Twitter might hv low packed you ๐คจ
@Twitter I'm not sure where you are coming from but good SDET's are like ๐ฆ๐ฆ buddy, you need to be familiar with frontend related frameworks(Selenium + Protractor, backend related frameworks (RestAssured + Axios), have understanding of Jmeter + Blazemeter + Understanding of Shell scripting for CI/CD pipelines and ofcourse Java and JavaScript/python/.Net. And if required Automation for Events as well. From what I've observed SDET's are paid as much as SDE or maybe a little less but not much difference than a typical (read not niche) SDE. I'm sure Amazon is not a "Manual" guy, if that's what you are thinking ๐ ๐
And what was ur base in amazon ? Create a poll on blind ....no in house sdet employees would be getting 40 at 5.5 yoe......even devs don't have that base in tier 1 companies. At 5.5 yoe Twitter gives swe2 with max base of 39.....so i compared based on that... Nd i am quite well paid here at Twitter

There is no standard for this ๐. Itโs usually only the worst companies that revert their offers after signing. Those kind of companies donโt bother compensating you for this. The last time this happened to good companies was during 2008, they gave people 8 weeks of salaries. Twitter wants you to sign a release exempting them from all blame. Just say that it will take 3-4 months for you to find a new job. And ask for 4 months of compensation.
