I am still waiting for Twitter service to crash with only 20% staff. How can a company reduce 80% and still doing well?

Do you use Twitter? The app is not doing well, been crashing a lot lately
😂😂😂👏🤡
tbh it’s running but it’s full of spam and multiple outlets are reporting attacks on their visibility like I think content moderation is at a minimum
Most companies could reduce by 80% and see no impact. If you ask yourself, who is Q-lick (Qlik) and why is he commenting this ridiculous post! Keep in mind we are a large company that has existed for 26+ years and have 100-150 people in marketing and hardly anyone knows who we are!
I know.
Companies can run on a skeleton crew for a long time, but it always bites them in the end.
The trending tab has been useless since the cuts because it used to have human curation. Also, a lot of it is behind the scenes teams end users never see the impact of like ads teams/analytics/compliance, we don't have visibility into how that's changed beyond the press email replying with a shit emoji.
Managing to keep lights on is not the same as doing well. They have lost plenty of revenue and so called "new" revenue sources are utter 💩
For real. Tech is all about growth and staying relevant. Tech companies are displaced so quickly it only makes sense to invest in trying to create experiences users love.
But those are mainly business problems e.g. worsening reputation/ risk, poor revenue models Engineering seems fine?
Wait until the class action lawsuit hit becuase of lack of compliance
They have had major outages.
The UI is not as smooth as it was. I no longer get proper notifications and it feels like I am shadowbanned. It might not crash but it isn’t working as well as it used to.
Those problems on notifications & shadow bannint have existed for well over a year
Still crying isn't over.😂 First it was crashing within a week now a new milestone.🤡🤡🤡
how does the boot taste HP? maybe you should be more concerned about working at a bottom tier company
Dude we have no idea how much ad revenue they've lost. You can clearly see the trending section is f'd up. There have been multiple days where racial epithets were trending (which in turn leads to more lost ad revenue). Musk is promoting his own tweets. The verified "feature" release is a joke to say the least. Like need I go on....But yes you can still go to twitter.com and see posts. I don't think anyone was expecting the site to be unreachable.
A company like Twitter has offense and defense. Offense does a lot of experiments to identify where to improve metrics they care about. You can cut offense if you don't need to innovate or increase profits, but competitors might pass you eventually. Defense is about monitoring, stability, scalability, security. You can cut defense, but it puts you at risk for more incidents. Many of those incidents might not get big visibility at the customer level, until something esoteric goes wrong that only laid off people know how to fix. It will happen at some point, it will suck, but the PR downside probably wouldn't drown out the huge cost savings from a shareholder standpoint.
Twitter is a mature IT product. It runs itself for the most part. Your breakdown makes sense. Elon probably only cares about new revenue. So I would guess it's an offensive focus with huge cuts to defensive functions. Defensive function will be beefed up solely on an as needed basis I'm guessing.

What do you think happens behind the scenes? Do you think companies are making employees pedal cycles to generate enough electricity to power their servers?
No but I was imagining a bunch of old phone operator type of people hooking up cables on a panel so the tweets go to correct accounts.
The hairstyles of these operators are awesome. Pure gold.
