Adtdch or generative ai/ nlp?
Insulting offers
Both offers are low for ML engineers. I think I would go for generative ai because if that really becomes the next big thing then you’ll be part of a fast growing field.
Not many companies have funds/budget to train those models. Also data scientist working on NLP is really boring, where you keep training model again and again and again and again. It is hyped right now because of chatgpt but extremely boring work to do
The base is pretty good for both offers for a non-senior ML engineer. Equity is paper money anyway given these are startups.
Are you sure it's not 20k worth of options and 10k worth of options? Not just 10k and 20k total equity?
At an early stage startup those numbers might not be so different from each other
location?
How many YoE do you have in ML?
Congratulations on the offers! If you don't mind me asking, how did you come across these opportunities?
Open AI is the only one worthwhile
😆
Same people who put up suckcoin are now doing suckai
Yes
Suckai sounds good. Isn’t it a 🇯🇵 drink? 😂
Depends if you want to join a mature field (AdTech), or an emergent field (Generative AI), with all the corresponding benefits/drawback.
Ok I don’t know anything about swe or ml but I have a question. Aren’t these smaller startups supposed to offer more equity?
So either that’s the number of units that would be awarded or that is what the stock options are worth now. The value of the stocks could Increase by 4-5x in the next funding round
It really depends. A company before series B is best evaluated as percentage share, and later it's best evaluated on the value as determined by the rate of growth and last funding round.
