Both offer 200k TC and 50k sign-on.
What are the teams at both companies? I feel like that should be the main factor here.
two sigma will be a great place to work if u wanna create wealth for yourself over the next 5-8 years. google is great for general engineer skill development (i have friends who work at 2s and i work at google)
This question's hard to answer because you haven't listed what you're looking for in a job. Generally speaking, TS will pay higher first few years out of new grad, but with G's perks it roughly evens out. Code quality and internal tooling is superior at G, although TS isn't too bad for its size. WLB is same. Having talked to my friends at G, the type of work at TS seemed more interesting to me but honestly work is just work lol. I personally think the most important thing is where your friends are and if you wanna live in bay/SF vs NY. Both are good places to work; just choose where you'd be happiest.
Weird. 2s should beat G for new grad offers by 20k in general.
I made this same choice a year ago and chose Google. G was offering a lower TC but this has more than balanced out when factoring stock growth. But besides TC, Google has better swe practices and more transferrable skills. Benefits and the like are also a bit better. I am happy with my decision but I think I would have been happy either way. Both are great companies. Edit: I interned at both before making the decision
What was the deciding factor for you since you interned at both?
mostly: - location (friends are in bay area) - type of work, I wasn't really a fan of the things that 2sig teams worked on as a SWE; it felt much lower impact than the stuff Google works on even though it's a much smaller company. QR would probably be better based on talking to the other interns. - google's code base quality is significantly better The things 2sig had going for it were that it has a bit more prestige, a bit more TC, and is a smaller company.
