I’m deciding between two offers both for Senior level in Data platform team. Yahoo finance has a stronger base pay with sign on bonus but no equity. Marqeta has slightly lower base but equity with one year cliff. I’m super confused as the work is also similar in both teams along with TC. Anyone here within these companies and teams can shed more light on culture and the work? Else, which one would you choose considering the brand reputation on your resume? Thank you in advance!! #engineering #software
Is yahoo finance a good place to work? in terms of engineering work quality and brand reputation of the company?
I've heard its good for finance.
How many yoe, btw?

How did you get an interview with Yahoo? I can’t ever seem to get one. Recruiter reached out once, but nothing since. I’ve heard Yahoo finance is good if you wanna be in the Fintech Space. Possibly even to trading firms.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about yahoo lately. Seems like great wlb and culture. Not sure how much you’d grow there, but the company brand is fairly positive I’d say. Just curious, how difficult were the interviews? What were the rounds like?
Rounds are fairly standard as other tech companies in the Bay Area. Recruiter->Tech screen->Onsite(Coding, Object oriented design, Systems, Hiring manager)
Send Yahoo referral after you join 😜
does yahoo not offer LTI?
Do Yahoo pay so low for Sr. Sde?
Does Yahoo offer equity/RSU ?
No equity or RSUs, maybe because its private now
Why leave Nextdoor? What was your TC. TC seems to be low for SSE.
Been at Nextdoor for a while, want to switch. TC not worth mentioning.
27k per year or total
per year
Last year, I took equity instead of a sign on bonus and thoroughly regret it. I'd review their healthcare coverage (personally) but Yahoo sounds better to me.
@dtzX40 what’s wrong with RSUs of a public company? if I don’t plan on job hopping for the next year
Mine ended up not opening out but ymmv
