Hey ! I am currently on mid-fourth year of H1-B. I have little less than 2 years left on work visa. I am on my early PERM process with the current company. With the recent changes in the company leadership and policies, I don't see my career progression here anymore and wants to switch to another better opportunity. However, I'm thinking of pursuing Management studies but I'm trying to understand what it means to my current visa status. Many management programs are now offered under STEM. Could someone please guide me how the visa works and what it means for me given my situation. 1. If I plan to switch to another company, do I have enough time to restart my PERM process. I guess not but what are my options here ? I can only fasten i-140 in premium processing once PERM is complete. 2. If I think of pursuing Management opportunity under STEM on Student visa, do I still have less than 2 years on H1-B ? My profile - Designation: Snr. Cloud Platform Engineer YOE: Overall 9 years/ 5 years with Citrix TC: 145 K in North Carolina TIA :)
You can move roles and refile for PERM if your new employer is willing to start the process immediately. If your PERM is outstanding for over 365 days, they can file a 1 yr extension of your H1b till your PERM arrives.

This is the worst time to think about career progression. Why not wait to just get the i140?
