FUCK GS, GS culture is as described in the picture below. GS is the Amazon of Finance firms, but 3x worse. The current CEO is an incompetent fool who has a track record (as seen on TV) of bragging about getting head from a subordinate at THE GREAT GOLDMAN SUCKS and is currently trying to use his position to grow/sponsor a DJ career he did not have before he became CEO. Not sure why Goldman is succing his cocc rn but yeah, Goldman Succs! Fuck organizations that just hire employees to toil with them and fire them. Imagine passing a Leetcode hard to get into Goldman Succs with only 2 years experience as an SDE - I did in 2020. Goldman Succs has many many ways of screwing people over. Just trust me lol, it’s in fine print and you cannot sue them :)
It’s an amazing place with great collaborative culture. Perhaps you were on the wrong team. Probably some back office where VPs are not even L2. You were not good enough to join a good team. They only fire people who have been given multiple opportunities to improve. YEMV 😂

Banks generally suck for tech workers. They’re only good for IB front office people who get paid extremely well.
I knew this in 2007 when I interviewed with a partner in my final round and passed. I got the job but when they did the reference check and realized that my mom was the housekeeper of the guy who referred me to the position I got completely ghosted after accepting the offer… never received a signed one back or anything. I followed up with many emails with no reply. Then I ended up accidentally butt dialing the manager 10x while at my college graduation party and he finally told me “we found someone more senior for the role, sorry it’s been very hectic here and we didn’t have time to tell you.”

I worked for gs before, it is a great company with great wlb, vp can get 28 days pto every year, in tech most company only give 15-20. Pay is not comparable to tech but the hiring bar is quite low. The low pay leads to high attrition rate so the md just want you to stay if you are not terrible. I conduct some interview for new grad and the new analyst hiring bar is low compared to Amazon or Microsoft sde1. VP is most likely map to sde2 in Amazon, I know gs VP even get Amazon's sde1 offer before.

ngl I was about to make a similar post lol there’s megathread a few yrs old about GS that’s way too neutral/leaning positive. It mislead me to joining. I don’t blame that op as I think his exp was all in similar banks and not tech companies. So I may still make a post to warn folks to stay away.
Goldman Sachs is worst ….Even Capital One is worst but GS is grandfather of Capital One in poor culture.How much stress these companies are giving to their poor employees and if they suffer from poor mental health then who will be accountable.
