I just joined a new company (day 2), is it ok that I ask my manager about home office equipment expense (such as mouse, keyboard, camera etc. , no big items like table though). Or should I ask it later at a more appropriate timing ? #swe #sde #engineer #it #career #office #homeoffice #interview #google #netflix @meta #apple #dropbox #doordash
I would consider these onboarding costs, of course you ask now. Would you ask for a laptop six months into the job?
good point
You probably should have asked when the offer was presented tbh.
Check your offer letter or benefits overview if there is a working from home stipend. Just ask HR or the recruiter who hired you. Our company is remote and we issue standard equipment - laptop / monitor / wireless keyboard-mouse combo - plus $100/month WFH stipend (not a lot, but helps pay for my upgraded internet plan) Basically if the item is needed for you to perform your role from home then it’s probably something they will cover - just ask.
Usually internal pages should have something so you don’t have to ask.
