URGENT: Tracking down Uber driver

Hey fellow @Uber brogrammers. Any possible way to track down a driver? I'm in Mexico City and took an Uber from the airport to the hotel and the driver drove off before I could get my suitcase from the trunk. My flight out is in less than 12 hours. I tried connecting to him through the app. He picked up and said he's busy and to call back in 10 minutes. For the past two hours he's not been picking up subsequent calls. Thanks

Call uber support asap

Is there a direct phone number?

That’s the best you could do.

Spam the support system. But it’s weekend your chance of getting through is ....

Consider reading the first post. Preferably the whole thing, but at least the third sentence.

I’m hoping you’re not an engineer. 🤦‍♂️

Could call the police and say he stole your suitecase

Mexico City bro. Even the locals don't trust the police

Please update on how this ends up

Go to the Mexico City police that are used to tourists, there’s a station in Reforma. They’re pretty trustworthy there and are used to non-Spanish speakers. You can have them call the Uber or at least make a report. Realistically anything of value in your suitcase is gone. Document everything you lost in the police report so you can get reimbursed by insurance or something else. This is a typical tactic of taxis but the first time I’ve heard of it happening with Uber. Next time never leave belongings in the trunk in 3rd world countries, take it to the back seat with you.

Prolly because reputation is very important to a driver's ability to find work. OP can report the driver and likely their algorithm will demote the driver, especially if the driver has multiple complaints.

I’ve left belongings in the trunk in third world countries several times when using Uber. Never ran into this type of issue.

Reach out to Uber via social media: Twitter or Facebook

Reach out via social media. Use really horrible words so that it triggers the emergency response team. Loop in the CEO, news channels, Mexican govt in your tweet and just cause ruckus on Twitter

Amazon vr38dett OP Sep 29, 2018

Yeah that's a good idea but I don't use social media anymore nor have any active accounts. 95% of its contents was my dirty laundry. I'm mostly upset about the gifts that I spent a lot of time picking out for family, friends, and coworkers.

Well if any of you ever are in Mexico City and need someone to take a load off your hands, here you go. He's "honest and friendly"

Uber chat reps kept giving me canned responses, then came through with the driver's phone number and told me to coordinate with him. The number, of course, is disconnected

Second update: I just came back to my hotel and the concierge told me the driver called the hotel and will be delivering it within the next 2 to 3 hours. I'm going to sleep now and will see in the morning if it actually comes
