I'm currently on 4+ year career break due to personal reasons. Currently applying and interviewing at tech companies in London/Europe and some banks. What adjacent roles to Product should I consider? any tech companies or fintech teams in banks? I would appreciate referrals and mentorship. I like to build and improve things working with clients and teams. I'm looking for a good WLB and career growth/culture and potential high long term TC. I'm put off by banking due to culture and Brexit job cuts and not interested in consulting or early-stage startups. Looking at mid-large growth companies. Willing to start at lower level. I learned to code basic C++ in last 2 years. I don't want to be a SWE. I am looking at non-tech roles. In program/delivery/product. Last year applied for product and had 6 out of 27 apps first stage for large IB, early-stage fintech, Revolut and grocery. Not enough relevant experience. This year focusing on project/delivery and ops roles. 4 interviews so far 2 into second stage. In the break I gained part-time experience in early-stage Startups in healthcare (managed remote team to build MVP) with project and Product owner experience. Previous experience in delivering large transformation programs in investment banks including tech systems (through Big4 consulting and independent). Experience of being a Product Owner for an electronic trading platform. YOE - 7/ level: AVP at time of leaving. 3 YOE part-time in startups. #tech #finance #career #microsoft #google #facebook #salesforce #citi #jpmorgan #morganstanley

Fintech and Product manager roles seem like a good choice. Changing career path, after a break and doing so in a tier 1 company is always difficult. I think there is a bit of discrimination for junior roles for people with experience but startups don't mind as much and can help you on your next move.
@united - yes, realised through networking and interviewing that changing role types and industry is not straight forward. In product interviews the fair feedback I got was that don't have the specific domain experience or gone through with a product in the lifecycle. I am now focusing on project/delivery roles adjacent to tech teams or in business ops (in tech). Would you recommend any sectors in tech or finance that are growing? I know blockchain has a focus on it again.
