It takes 10+ years for Indians and Chinese to get GC, but for ROW, it takes < 2 years. So overall, US GC bar is still pretty low and isnt hard to get. Is this statement accurate? New to immigration and not even interested in getting US GC.
Sure. With the "minor" caveat that the RoW guy just needs to get an H1b first, where: * 75% are grabbed by Indians through their sweat shops and multiple applications * 10% Chinese
Is H1B the only route for GC ?
No, it's not a requirement, technically. Yet, I don't know a single person who was sponsored before getting some kind of employment (L1 or H1)
Well, itās not 10+ years for Indians more like 30-40 years. If I had known it would be this bad then I would have not come. All my friends who went to Europe, Canada, Australia etc. are citizens of those countries now. Yeah the bar is pretty low and US GC is easy to get compared to a lot of other countries. Just getting the initial H1 is tough.
I got GC in less than 2 years and I am from ROW. I didnāt get h1b lottery so I was applied as f1. I dont think the bar is low though.
Well, considering that 1 million people get a green card every year, I think you are right, the bar is not super high. But it's designed to be difficult for Chinese - the US has allowed mass immigration from many countries but made sure China would never be one of them. Unfortunately, Indians ended up getting screwed by these anti-Chinese efforts even more than Chinese themselves.
Nah, that's how the Indian lobby presents it. The system is designed to prevent a single overpopulated country from taking it all. Diversity is important to America.
Melting pot needs lots of ingredients. You canāt just fill it with curry to the brim.
What exactly is ROW?
Why is Mexico also considered separately?
Quotas are for all type of immigration except spouse I think. Mexico has a huge representation in the Us..lead time for family members is 10 years now I guess
No it has to do with NAFTA
It used to be 1y3m for ROW (until 2015), if working for a big corp and good compensation. Thanks to the current administration changes, that jumped to 2y6m and the backlog is growing everyday. One of the changes made was to make an interview that was optional at the end of process (i.e. adjustment of status) mandatory for everyone. It seems the USCIS 'forgot' to hire more employees to conduct those interviews... My guess is that the current backlog for those interviews are pushing the process to close to 3 years in this days.
I never understood why the F would adjustment of status take 10 months! The background check could be back in 2-3 weeks or so!
Hey donāt be mad, you you could always #jestleave. Immigration is a privilege not a right š
Given the abysmally low percentage of students that finish high school and an even lower that finish college and negligible that finish tech education in a culture that values sports and jocks more...implies you always have a need for tech folks to hire that cannot be fulfilled by citizens and need immigrants. Yes there are Indian sweatshops finding loopholes but overall there is still a problem finding citizens.
EB3 is basically an unskilled worker category. Look it up. The actual requirement to qualify for it is literally just a highschool diploma plus either two years work experience or two years of college. That's it. That's why the queue is so long. No actual skills are needed.
