I was accepted into both USC and UCLA’s Part Time MBA programs and want to eventually move into an executive role at my current company, Disney, or somewhere like Netflix, Google, or Apple. Any insight into how the two programs compare in the LA area? Reputations of each? Most comparisons I’ve seen are in the context of moving into Consulting or Finance, which isn’t my interest, hence why I’m asking here. If I don’t stay in entertainment I’d want to move into tech. Thanks!
What’s your background and previous work experience?
UCLA. Curious to know how much DIS is chipping in? (And YOE, TC, current level pls)
USC, for sure.
What is your current role and which executive path you want to be on? CFO CMO etc? Then based on that choose the school that specializes in that area.
Lol, at Disney a Director is considered executive...people have to keel over for me to make it any higher than that. Or I have to leave and come back...
I’ve had a very difficult time justifying the cost of a MBA with unknown returns. I’ve been working for 18 years...seems today that a MBA won’t help me change roles or industry. The network that you can access via your school may help...but I haven’t heard of many folks tapping their network and then landing a great role and 2x+ their TC. Would love to hear from others.
UCLA
USC. Way better network
Agreed. USC network adds significant value

Why do you think you need an MBA to be an executive?
Disney values degree pedigree, especially in LA
It can teach OP business management strategy if OP doesn't have an immediate opportunity or a mentor who can help with learning business management.
