Does focussing on money as the primary factor work?

The general consensus here on Blind is maximize TC, no matter what it leads to. For example, Amazon and Meta pay top TC but there have been hundreds of posts about toxic work culture at these companies and people ending with a mental wreck after working there for few years. Same goes for even big corporations. Boeing was a very good engineering and safety focussed company but when McDonnell Douglas (MD) merged with them, the MD management took over Boeing (There's a joke that MD bought Boeing with Boeing's money) and led to Boeing's downfall with 2 fatal crashes of newer Boeing 737 max aircrafts. This was attributed to money 1st, safety 2nd culture that MD management brought along. Just late last week, a brand new Alaska airlines Boeing 737 max jet had its window section blown off after take off. Does money being the primary factor really work and has it worked for you (if it applies to you) and led to an all round fulfilled life?

No, money tends to be short sighted and it’s ultimately hard to predict what will cost more. In your example, Boeing wanted to save pennies but ended up costing itself dollars. I feel like people aren’t comfortable having full control over their life and always seek some sort of guiding principles. The secret is there isn’t a one size fits all formula. If money is a problem for you, obviously you need to solve that. Once that’s addressed, though, you need to worry about something greater like your mental and physical well being.
